The mountains were calling, so we chose our trail and started packing up the truck at 9am. With 4 young children, it’s 10 before we have loaded the right amount of matching boots, jackets and mittens. The kids are excited to adventure, but it’s only 3 minutes before the questions start of “Are we there yet?” Suddenly our three year old exclaims, “Dis is so bootiful. Look at da light on da trees!” Every step is worth it.
Seeing the world again through their eyes is a gift. The rocks are their playgrounds, the sticks are their toys. Our children have grown strong. Endurance and patience are added to their qualities. They are learning from the trees, rocks and dirt. These experiences are powerful and fundamental.
