Submit Your Story for an upcoming She Explores Podcast Episode!

There’s been a lot of talk in our She Explores Podcast Facebook group about getting started backpacking – whether it’s your first time getting out there or your first time trying it solo. It’s been so encouraging to see all the advice we have to offer. After sharing our starter guide on the blog, we decided that it’d be really inspiring to hear these words of wisdom on an episode of the podcast.
So, we want to know: what do you wish you knew when you got started backpacking? What advice do you have for those new to it? What advice do you have specifically for backpacking solo? If you haven’t been out yet, what’s holding you back? And if you’re so inclined, we would love to hear about your very first time carrying everything you need for a night and sleeping out in the backcountry.
Submit a 3-minute voice memo below or leave a voice mail via 617-917-4721. If you’d prefer to just write your answer, you can do so in the space provided as well. We may not be able to include all the submissions, but will listen to each and every one!
Here are some prompts to get you started. Please try to focus on one or two.
- What advice do you have for others who want to get started backpacking?
- What advice do you have for others who want to start backpacking solo?
- What do you wish you knew when you first started?
- Tell the story of your very first backpacking trip (solo or with a group, friend, or partner).
- If you haven’t backpacked but would like to, what’s kept you from trying it out?
Submissions close Sunday, September 15: 8PM PST
Note: By submitting a voice memo or written submission, you’re giving She-Explores.com and She Explores podcast permission to publish and/or lightly edit your voice and words in part or entirety.
Recording Tips: As tricky as it is to do, try to forget about the fact that you’re recording. Hold your phone/microphone away from your mouth. Talk like you’re telling a story to a friend. Listen back and forgive yourself the sound of your own voice – you’re the only one who feels that way about it <3
