What is it like to enjoy the outdoors after the age of 50? We asked and you answered.
We’re honored to be highlighting the wisdom and experience of women in their 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. These are voices that we don’t hear as often in our youth obsessed culture. All of these stories are extraordinary for their willingness to share, try new things, and encourage others to do the same.
They share how their relationship with the outdoors has changed since turning 50, what transitions have had most impact on their lives, what they do with the extra time when their children have grown, and (our favorite) advice for their younger selves.

Love It…Thanks for this!
This episode is amazing for women of all ages. Thanks for sharing your stories ladies!
This fifty plus episode was the best so far in my opinion. I am not there yet, having just turned 40, but the experiences of these women was very inspiring to me. The last three years I have suffered a chronic illness that has slowed me down and caused me to reprioritize parts of my life, and one of the highest in my list now is being in nature, even if it is simple and slow. Hearing how these women have slowly increased strength and courage is just the encouragement I needed. Keep including voices like this in the podcast. Thank you!

Thanks so much for this episode! Like many of these women, I renewed my enthusiasm for outdoors and hiking and took up backpacking when I turned 50. My backpacking partners are my 18YO daughter and my 21YO son, and it has taken a couple of serious injuries for me to realize that I shouldn’t try to keep up with them. It is so encouraging to hear other women of about my age talking about keeping themselves strong but also having realistic expectations for their bodies.
