I have to admit that it wasn’t until the past year or two that I finally started to take true care of my skin. During my early 20’s, embarrassingly, I was the worst about sleeping in my make-up–gross, I know. I’ve now evolved to embrace going bare-faced daily and not only have I become more disciplined about sticking to a regimen but also more mindful about exactly what I am putting on my face. I began to travel more over the past few years and I’m exposed to differing climates often. Finding a skin care line that could be carted with me wherever I go that was also eco-minded, natural, and gentle on my skin was difficult.
Enter Ursa Major VT ‘s Blue Ridge Kit. They’ve teamed up with United By Blue to create an exclusive travel kit and I recently was given the opportunity to try it out. I couldn’t wait to put it to the test!
The kit includes Ursa Major VT’s super natural skin care products: fantastic face wash, essential face tonic, fortifying face balm, and face wipes, all tucked into United By Blue’s organic waxed canvas pouch. For me this was huge in and of itself. I find that while I am on the go, whether it’s on the road or in my daily life, packing things then unpacking things over and over, it can be rough on not just the products themselves, but the bags that contain them as well. This pouch is durable. It doesn’t show dirt as much, but is easy to clean, and dries out quickly. Perfect if you’re a water-flinger like me when washing your face!
I found the stand out product to be a tie between the face wash and the face wipes. The face wash is soothing, gentle, and refreshing with a sweet and slightly minty aroma. Tip: A little bit goes a long way, so the 2oz. tube could easily last you a couple of months.
The face wipes are my JAM. They’re the perfect skin reboot post hike, after a long day’s work, or riding in cars (or in my case, a van) for long periods of time when all you want is to feel like you’ve taken a invigorating shower, but know that’s not a possibility for another few hours (or, in my case, few days). Lastly, if you’re like me and touch your face A LOT during the day—and don’t even realize it—The face wipe is perfect for removing dirt and immediately feeling refreshed in a pinch.
I also love the face tonic. It’s calming yet reviving first thing in the morning or as a mid-day wake-me-up. With aloe, bamboo, and lemon, it’s jam packed with so much goodness to help bring tired skin to life. It pairs nicely with the face balm, which I’ll admit at first I felt was a bit too sticky. Then, after actually reading the directions & following their suggested 15-30 second wait time after applying (to give it proper time to absorb), it grew on me! The aloe, carrot, myrtle and birch help to calm, hydrate, nourish, and protect your skin without clogging your pores.
Never using any petrochemicals, sulfates, paragons, or synthetic fragrances, using highest grade natural ingredients and 100% natural, these products won me over. They’re incredibly durable and, with the pouch, easy to carry wherever I go.
As an added bonus, and notably my favorite thing about both of these companies, is that for every product sold, United By Blue removes a pound of trash from our oceans and waterways, while Ursa Major will donate 1% of sales of this kit towards protecting America’s wildest places.
